Hit or Miss: Monsoon - 8/10

Westfield London, first floor, unit 11

Monsoon

Pros

Monsoon’s signature bohemian aesthetic ties in perfectly with this season’s 1970s feel. While many shoppers here might not feel comfortable in suede shorts or flared jeans, Monsoon’s selection of printed maxi dresses and beaded tops offers an easy way for them to buy into the trend. Friendly sales staff greet shoppers at the entrance and key product is tagged to highlight that it was used in the advertising campaign or it has special details, such as ‘artisan hand beading’. Prices are impressive considering the level of finish. A chic embellished navy dress is £99, while simpler pieces, such as jersey camisoles, start at £29. Upstairs, the occasionwear range is more than a match for Coast, with an intricately beaded flapper dress (£199) and a pretty lemon tulle number (£249) among the most attractive pieces.

Cons

The fitting rooms are rather dark and none of the curtains close properly. A huge campaign shot starring model Laura Bailey is positioned prominently in store, but the dress in the image is not currently available to buy.
