Value for money is decent at Moss Bros, with good-quality shirts for £40 in Egyptian cotton with well-structured collars, and £149 suits coming with a free shirt and tie, making for a cheaper outfit than some in Next or M&S that are around the same quality.
The window is uninspired and when I visit it contains an assortment of cleaning products that clearly aren’t supposed to be there. Inside, the store is sterile, with no mannequins. For a suit specialist, there are hardly any prints for shirts, or on-trend contrast collar and cuff details from the own brand (although there are from Ted Baker). Suits are unimaginative and mostly don’t veer from 1sb or 2sb styles in grey and black, while outerwear and knitwear feel like uninteresting, unnecessary add-ons. Prices like £159 for a safe db pea coat will never compete with M&S where, apart from anything, they’re simply better presented. There’s nothing to write home about here.
