Hit or miss: New Look - 6/10

  • 203-207 Oxford Street

New Look AW14

With one of the biggest selections of coats on the high street, New Look’s offer ranges between £35 for cropped duffles to £50 for longer lengths in an assortment of styles. Fake fur trims or oversized shapes look on-trend. Pricing is fair, considering it offers better fabrics and sturdier fastenings than Primark or Forever 21. Overall, product is well presented in areas divided by colour and trends including winter florals, velvet and fringing on pretty tops and dresses, most of which are available for less than £20.

The branch was being refurbished, so large areas were sectioned off. The store seems cramped and few mannequins were on show, although apologies from the management were signposted and this has been taken into consideration in our scoring. The store does lose points, however, for its terrible customer service. Staff in the changing rooms ignored customers, leaving them waiting. On product, knits tend to be a little shapeless and some pieces, such as a thin viscose top for £18, are priced too high for their basic quality.
