Hit or miss: Next - 8/10

  • 201-203 Oxford Street

Next, Autumn 14

Pros

Next has a distinctly festive feel, with garlands and fairy lights adorning the window. Some may feel October is too early to mention Christmas, but it gets shoppers in the mood. The staff were very friendly and greeted shoppers as they entered the store. The women’s footwear corner has a dedicated assistant who was happy to help and order sizes into this branch when styles weren’t available. Next offers good value for money with court shoes priced at around £29 and leather versions matching Topshop’s £50 price tag. It also offers a quilted ankle boot for £40 that resembles Clarks’ leather version at £90. The men’s footwear area is impressive: spacious with a couple of large couches for shoppers to try on shoes in comfort. The sizeable rug in the centre also creates a homely vibe.

Cons

The women’s footwear area is hidden away at the rear of the store and a bit cramped. It is also smaller than those in other Next branches, which is disappointing as this is the flagship.
