Hit or Miss: Reiss - 7/10

Westfield London, ground floor, unit 29

Reiss

Pros

Its strong and unique product offer scores well for Reiss, with pieces you can’t get elsewhere. For example, knitwear stands out thanks to unusual knit constructions and fabrications that feel premium. Leather or suede trims, such as on the collar of a bomber jacket, give a unique spin to on-trend basic items and justify the higher prices. A suede version of a typical denim jacket shape costs £275, for example, which is high but better value than similar styles at All Saints, which are more than £300. More casual and jersey pieces are also here. Every style is hung in a group of four, with a small, medium, large and extra large always on display.

Cons

The store might have looked plush when it first opened, but some areas are now a little tired. For example, the light carpet is grubby and a chair cushion is ripped. As at Topman, a group of staff are holding a loud meeting in store and don’t move out of customers’ way, although other staff are on hand to help. Some mannequins’ outfits are heavily pinned, which is off-putting.
