Shoes are the most fashion-led of the stores visited, with heavy metallic detailing, snakeskin prints and ponyskin textures aplenty. Dressy sandals are competitively priced at £50, while metal-trimmed leather ankle boots (£75) are pricier than New Look’s (£70) but better quality. Cream and black snakeskin ankle boots (£65) stand out, as do over-the-knee suede boots for £120, representing good value. There are plenty of seats, full-length mirrors and lots of space for trying on. Downstairs in menswear, staff offer assistance almost immediately. Men’s footwear is well merchandised across the floor with loafers (starting at £30) and lace-up boots (£90) on tables with hats and scarves.
