Hit or Miss: Schuh 6/10

First floor, unit 69

Pros Split over two levels with women’s and kids’ on the ground floor and men’s upstairs, Schuh boasts all the brands you would expect, including Adidas, Havaianas and Ugg Australia. Customers are welcomed by the most seasonal product at the door of the shop, with a big display of Toms espadrilles ranging in price from £35 to £42, matching those at Office. Casual styles dominate, with New Balance and Adidas trainers at the centre of the wall on the right-hand side. Women’s dressier styles include leather flip-flops for £32, cheaper than Office’s version of a similar quality priced at £45.

Cons The own label product still lags behind high street competitors, which offer a wider range of styles. There is no escalator to go upstairs, which may prove difficult for less mobile shoppers. When the shop is busy, it struggles to provide enough seating for customers to try on the footwear.
