Hit or Miss: Whistles - 8/10

Westfield London, first floor, unit 22, The Village

Whistles

Pros

Whistles is housed within The Village, an area that is home to Westfield’s most premium stores. With neighbours including Prada and Burberry, this prime positioning highlights Whistles’ higher-end aspirations. Product is merchandised well inside, with clothing hanging on chunky wooden rails and accessories laid out on tables. Bold botanical prints offer a point of difference to florals and pieces such as wide-leg frayed jeans (£95) tap into the trend for more directional denim. Sales staff are helpful; when I can’t find what I’m looking for they search their system to locate it for me in another store, eventually directing me to the House of Fraser website.

Cons

There is only one fitting room, which must cause big problems at the weekend. The room itself is large but dark and feels a bit like a store cupboard - or a prison cell. In the upscale part of this shopping centre, you expect better. The windows are uninspiring, with mannequins dressed mostly in black.
