Hit or miss: Zara - 5/10

  • 215-219 Oxford Street

Standout products include a bomber jacket-style playsuit for £30 and fake leather culottes for £36. Trends such as military khaki are interpreted in unique ways in pleated skirts and jumpsuits. The 1970s trend is also well presented, with roll-neck jumper dresses, pussybow blouses and jackets trimmed with fake fur. Sporty zip-through knits in Italian yarns seem forward-thinking, given the trend for sportswear coming through for spring 15. Overall, pricing is in line with the rest of the young fashion chains, but with added value from a unique design touch.

Despite product looking strong on the rails, the store is quite messy, with table displays in particular disarray. More attention could be paid tomannequins, which often feature the same outfit. Many key items are at the back or on the top floor, while valuable space in more prominent areas is taken up with boring rails of shirts or blazers. A lack of staff on the shop floor was noticeable.
