Web sales boost Pritchards

Men’s designer indie Pritchards has experienced a 10% hike in sales since the launch of its transactional website eight months ago.

The Hereford store, which has remained in the Pritchard family since opening in 1836, launched its website in December and has had about 30,000 unique users visiting the site so far.

Pritchards said it had fulfilled web orders to customers as far afield as Canada, Thailand and China and that the site was proving popular in Denmark.

Murray Eversham, Pritchards’ website manager, said: “The classic British brands we stock are doing very well in China and Hong Kong - they can’t get enough of Paul Smith.” He said French footwear label Paraboot was also performing strongly with overseas shoppers because the brand is hard to find, as it is not widely distributed.

Pritchards stocks labels including Armani Collezioni, Boss Black, John Smedley and Polo Ralph Lauren in its King Street store and on its transactional website, www.pritchards.co.uk.

Eversham said he would add additional brands to the website from autumn 11.
