053. Chocolate Clothing

Unit 7, Lesley House, Foyle Street, Derry, Northern Ireland

Who you need to know Co-owners Barry and David Conaghan

Brands include Amy Childs, Edwin, Farah Vintage, House of Dereon, Little Mistress, Merc, Penfield, Suit

Chocolate Clothing strikes a fine balance between young fashion labels such as Amy Childs for the ladies and cool heritage brands like Merc for the men.

The store’s website has become a major etail presence, exporting to more than 60 countries and becoming the business’s driving force.

The indie received a double nod in 2012, when it was shortlisted as a finalist for the PayPal Etail Awards in the Redesign/Relaunch category, and in the Best New Business category at the Drapers Fashion Awards.

This year Chocolate Clothing will beef up its online editorial content, give the website a facelift, increase its Amazon and eBay sales and launch a mobile site. Oh, and discussions are under way for its own womenswear brand.

A busy 2013 then.
