Who you need to know Owner Stephen Robson

Brands include Barbour, Diesel, Fred Perry, G-Star, Lyle & Scott, Nudie Jeans, Paul Smith, Ralph Lauren

Stephen Robson was just 19 years old in 1985 when he opened Visual Impact, which he funded by buying a car on hire purchase and then selling it for £2,000 to fit out the shop and buy in the stock.

Now, 28 years later, the indie hasn’t just survived - it’s thriving. “The wide range of product and our staff’s close relationship has kept us as the store of choice for the island’s fashionable, whatever their age,” says Robson.

In the past year, Visual Impact has improved its online store, made a move towards premium labels and bought deeper into key products, a tactic which Robson says is paying off.
