Who you need to know Co-owners Lulu Roper-Caldbeck and Rhonda Drakeford

Brands include A Peace Treaty, Borba Margo, Carre Royal, H by Harris, Jonathan Saunders, Lynn Cockburn, Veja

Just over two years since it opened, accessories indie Darkroom has become one of London’s hidden gems.

Based in Bloomsbury, this concept store sells an unusual mix of handmade and one-off accessories for men, women and the home.

Its dynamic owners, Rhonda Drakeford and Lulu Roper-Caldbeck, focus on serving up labels by emerging and unknown designers and craftspeople, as well as Darkroom’s own designs of bags, scarves and ceramics.

Drakeford, who reveals that the new business has almost doubled its turnover year on year, puts the success down to providing an “adventurous concept that is visually focused”.
