Who you need to know

Owners Kelly and Paul Turner-Mitchell

Brands include Charas, Claudio Lugli, Jolaby, Kate Fearnley, Lisa Jayne Dann, Motel, Project D, Soo Lee, Vila

Launched just three years ago, 25 Ten has quickly become a destination for young fashion-lovers looking for labels that are unusual and bang on trend.

Trading in the town has not always been easy, as Rochdale was hit hard by the recession, with almost a fifth of shops standing empty, according to co-owner Kelly Turner-Mitchell, who set up the business with husband Paul.

It is testament to their drive and determination that 25 Ten has not only survived but has grown its sales by almost 30% year on year since it opened. In December last year the business relocated to a 1,400 sq ft store, three times the size of the original.

Kelly has worked on a range of marketing initiatives, including a loyalty card scheme, monthly prize draws, preview evenings for upcoming collections, live window models and social media. She has also worked with fashion design students at Rochdale College to create a 25 Ten own label.

She says: “I’m Rochdale born and bred. I wouldn’t have wanted to set up my business anywhere else and local women are repaying my faith in the town by becoming loyal customers.”

The innovation and entrepreneurial gusto displayed by Kelly has impressed her customers, with one fan declaring: “You can put together a whole outfit there and be confident no one else will be wearing the same thing - not something you can say when you shop on the high street. I like that 25 Ten is flying the flag for stylish and independent shopping in north Manchester. It’s a bold venture and deserves support.”
