The Women’s Society Boutique is a treasure trove of gorgeous finds from ballgowns and dresses to footwear and handbags. Nominated for being “very classy and high quality, but at the same time very warm and approachable”, the contemporary womenswear retailer prides itself on its beautiful store design.

On entering the shop customers are greeted by a huge mirror emblazoned with the ‘House Rules’ - 10 tongue-in-cheek commandments, including nuggets such as ‘Never drink Sauvignon when you can drink Champagne’ and ‘Always hoover in heels’.

Co-owners Faith Kenny and Victoria Rex say: “Knowing your customer is key, physically working on the shopfloor and selling to your customer is so important.”

The store’s customer base spans all ages from 15-year-olds searching for their first prom dress to 65-year-olds looking to inject a touch of glamour into their wardrobes. “It’s more about attitude than age,” says Kenny. “We buy our labels in small quantities so we can offer customers something a little different and exclusive from the high street.”

Over the past year, regular in-store promotions and loyalty offers have helped The Women’s Society Boutique combat competition from the high street without succumbing to constant mid-season Sales. While there are plans to launch a transactional website next year, the store’s hands-on service has already won it a legion of fans.
