How is trade at the moment?

Fine. Accessories and bags have sold exceptionally well.

Which categories are doing best?

Leather goods are in extremely high demand. Generally, luxury labels such as Mulberry and Vivienne Westwood are doing really well. Our customers seem to be interested in statement pieces, for example the Mulberry Bayswater bag in patent leopard print.

What’s the biggest challenge you will face next year?

The VAT increase will be no help to businesses. Price is crucial but I’m not overly concerned.

Do you have a transactional website?

Yes, though most of our profit still comes from the store.

Are you introducing new brands for spring 11?

We’ll be stocking Burberry. We tend to stick to well-known brands, and British designers appeal to the significant international student community in Sheffield. They take an interest in strongly British labels like Vivienne Westwood and Paul Smith.
