If I had to pick one standout indie it would be Attic in Aberdeen, which I’ve worked with for 10 years, because it does both menswear and womenswear so well. It’s run by three brothers, Adam, Craig and Richard McLaughlin, who are down-to-earth, unpretentious and professional, which is reflected in the store’s buzzing atmosphere.
A couple of years ago, Attic underwent a major refurbishment and the store is kept fresh with regular changes on the shopfloor and clear merchandising. The team knows its customer really well - the store often throws in-store events and parties with local DJs and drinks to introduce new labels or the new season.
Attic’s womenswear floor, which was added more recently, is really rocking, despite the presence of a Topshop store in the city.
The interesting brand mix includes Edwin, Maharishi and PRPS. Attic also collaborates with the Trainerspotter brand, which brings unique product to the store.
