Beales names Debbie Beaumont Howell as buying chief

Beales has appointed Debbie Beaumont Howell, former House of Fraser director of buying for beauty, accessories and intimate apparel, as buying and merchandising director.

Beaumont Howell, who takes up the role on November 8, will head up buying across the 13-strong store chain, and she will work closely with existing heads of buying Jo Southerton and Suzi Bailey.

Beales chief executive Tony Brown said she would help consolidate changes to the business over the past 12 months, including the acquisition of Robbs of Hexham in Northumberland from the beleaguered Vergo Retail Group in June.

Beaumont Howell started her buying career at Harrods, working her way up to director of its Way In young fashion department and of kidswear. She went on to become buying and merchandise director for home, fashion and cosmetics at Fenwick (then trading as Bentalls) and was later appointed buying director for ladies and men’s apparel, childrenswear, shows and accessories.

She has also held roles at TK Maxx and accessories brand Lola Rose prior to joining House of Fraser.
