Bermondsey 167, Southwark, south London

Chosen by Geoff O’Connell, chief executive of young fashion brand Hot Tuna

An indulgence of mine on a Saturday is a trip to Borough Market in London, for my weekly groceries and time out. Just a few minutes away on the ever-diversifying and independent Bermondsey Street is Bermondsey 167.

The store is very slick with an impeccable interior. It stocks a capsule collection of tailored shirts, knitwear and accessories for men designed by the owner Michael McGrath, former head of men’s design at Burberry London, under his label M2CG, as well as women’s swimwear and accessories. The shirts are all handmade in England and it offers a bespoke service.

Other highlights include Michael’s range of pure silk ties and scarves, again all handmade in England. Add some hand-picked jewellery from Brazil, Italy and Spain, and excellent homeware designed by artisans in Brazil.

Excellent, friendly customer service means that nine times out of 10 I leave with a 167 white bag.
