Black White Denim opens pop-up shop

Womenswear indie Black White Denim opened a pop-up shop in Manchester city centre this week.

The pop-up opened its doors on Tuesday on Hardman Street in the city’s luxury Spinningfields development, and will trade for nine weeks, covering the two busiest trading months of the year.

It will stock a selection of premium labels including One Vintage, Paige Premium Denim and Preen, which are also stocked in the retailer’s original store in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Black White Denim owner Jo Davies said: “There is a fabulous atmosphere in the city and I’m really looking forward to being part of that.”

Despite the harsh economy, Davies said the pop-up shop was potentially a trial for a second store. “This is a brilliant testing ground. We certainly expect our sales targets to match those of our Wilmslow store, and it’s a great way to take our concept to those who don’t know it’s out there.”

Black White Denim has quickly built a loyal customer base in Wimslow since the store opened in September 2010. According to Davies, the two stores offer many labels that are not available anywhere else in the Northwest, as well as better-known labels. Other labels stocked include Acne, By Malene Birger and Mark Fast.
