Browns of York to open fourth store

Indie Browns of York will open its fourth store in August, a £650,000 boutique department store in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.

The store will occupy 12,000 sq ft over two floors at the market town’s Marshall’s Yard development, and will sell brands not currently available in the town, including Phase Eight, Barbour, Ted Baker and Gant.

“The store will offer middle to better-end brands that are aspirational and will suit the population base in that area,” said Nick Brown, managing director of the family-owned department store business.

Factors that drove the decision to open at Marshall’s Yard included the development’s Grade II-listed building, good parking, its in-house marketing team and the wide catchment area encompassing Lincoln, Doncaster and Scunthorpe.
