How is trade at the moment?

Trade has been OK, although it’s been gloriously inconsistent. We expect Fridays to be good but it’s been really up and down for us. Compared with last year it’s been the same, so I can’t complain too much, but it’s been hard to predict.

What has been selling well this autumn?

Brands like Casa Moda and Ben Sherman have been selling well, especially shirts and polos. Both long- and short-sleeved shirts have been popular, and actually short-sleeved shirts have been selling well all year. We’ve also been selling a lot of Lee Cooper denim and it seems less people are coming in to buy formal suits. The casual side has been moving much better.

How do you think business will be this Christmas?

During Christmas I’m usually pretty OK. Since we are a small business I tend to figure out what should go on Sale the old-fashioned way: I usually wait until closer to Christmas. Luckily, the stock we do have has been moving quickly.
