Coes confirms major redevelopment

Coes, the independent department store group, is to kick off the new year with a major multi-million pound refurbishment and expansion of its Ipswich store.

Coes, which trades from 20-28 Norwich Road in Ipswich, said it planned to completely overhaul the shopfit and expand its flagship site, taking it to 40,000sq ft. It will also completely upgrade its fascia, lifting it from a two-floor elevation to three floors.

Coes of Ipswich has womenswear, menswear, footwear, sportswear and formalwear departments.

It was founded in 1928 and has branches across East Anglia, employing more than 180 staff. Itis run by William Coe, the third generation of the Coe family to run the business.

The refubishment work will be phased so as to minimise disruption to trade.
