Collen & Clare picks Aldeburgh for women’s shop

Lifestyle indie Collen & Clare in Southwold, Suffolk, is set to expand next month by opening a contemporary womenswear store in nearby Aldeburgh.

The 580 sq ft store at 164 High Street will stock brands including Eileen Fisher and MaxMara and will open on Valentine’s Day to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Southwold shop.

Owner Vanessa Collen said: “Aldeburgh is a seaside town with second homes and a very sophisticated customer base. The idea is that our main shop, which sells womenswear, menswear, kidswear and lingerie, remains a flagship multi-branded store and that Aldeburgh reflects the DNA of [the town], selling just upmarket womenswear and accessories. The right building came up at the right time.”

Elsewhere, Scunthorpe-based menswear indie Fallen Hero, a Drapers Awards winner in 2011, will also open a second store, at Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough in Lincolnshire this spring.

The 1,670 sq ft shop will stock young fashion brands such as G-Star, Religion, Diesel and Replay.
