Curvy Kate finds niche in Nordic region

British plus-size lingerie brand Curvy Kate will be sold in Finland, Denmark and Sweden from this autumn, taking the total number of countries where it is distributed to 15.

The brand, which launched in July 2009, specialises in fashion lingerie for D to K cup sizes and back sizes 28 to 40 and will be distributed in the Nordic region through Swedish agency Keller Fashion, which focuses on styles and sizes that are not already available in Nordic lingerie markets.

“The niche market for plus-size bras is rapidly growing and Curvy Kate is perfect for meeting our customers’ needs,” said Olov Sundqvist, head of Keller Fashion.

Curvy Kate launched to the US market at trade show Curve in New York in August and is stocked in several US indies including The Full Cup in Alexandria, Virginia.

In the UK the brand has created an exclusive piece for mail order and online plus-size retailer Simply Yours for autumn 11. The Portia, in Curvy Kate’s collectionsince its launch, has been produced in a new raspberry/navy colourway and in back sizes 42 and 44. It will retail at £27 for a bra and from £12 for briefs.
