Darcy B eyes sales boom in bigger shop

Contemporary womenswear indie Darcy B is looking to triple its sales at its Woodbridge store in Suffolk after moving into larger premises.

The store moved from 28 Market Hill to number 23, which is four-times bigger. Owner Denise Potter said it had “totally outgrown” its smaller shop and needed more space.

The new shop, which opened five weeks ago, covers two floors and has a bright atrium, and a separate footwear department featuring brands such as French Sole, Melissa and Nicole Farhi. Womenswear brands stocked include James Lakeland, Nougat and Out of Xile.

“We’re selling more now because people can see the product,” said Potter. “Before it was so squashed in, but people are browsing now. We never had customers who would spend one-and-a-half hours in here before as it was so small.”

Potter also owns a homewares  store in Woodbridge as well as a womenswear store in Framlingham. She said sales tripled when she increased her Framlingham store size by a similar amount, so she hopes to achieve the same in Woodbridge.
