How is trade at the moment?

It’s definitely better. Our menswear sales are up and womenswear sales have remained constant year on year.

Which brands are selling well for you?

Fred Perry and Diesel are selling very well so far this spring.

Which categories are selling well?

The standout styles are polo shirts, jeans and shirts. We’re also selling a lot of lightweight knitwear at the moment.

How is the young fashion menswear market faring?

Young fashion has been struggling; it’s very difficult to compete against the high street stores.

Have you been doing any promotional events to drive footfall?

No. We’ve just stuck with our usual advertising.

How do you think independents are faring compared with the high street?

We’ve been doing really well. A lot of it is down to the staff; they help drive sales. It’s all about creating a good atmosphere in the store.
