Dulwich Trader, West Dulwich, south London

Chosen by Tracey Madeley, owner of womenswear indie En Parade in Chislehurst, Kent

Dulwich Trader is the indie that inspired me to open my boutique four years ago, and I still like to go shopping there.

Owner Katharine Maclaverty has cleverly put together a very enjoyable shopping experience, combining fashion with gifts and homewares. Gifts and small interior treasures occupy one side of the shop and fashion and accessories occupy the other side.

It is cleanly merchandised and stocks brands from all over the globe, with very friendly assistants on hand if you need help, but who never step over the line and start crowding your personal shopping space.

There is a wide selection of footwear and accessories which are displayed together on a feature wall, making it easy to see everything that’s on offer. The offer includes European brands such as Ash from Italy and Arche from France.

Dulwich Trader is everything an independent should be and more. This is exactly what the UK high street needs.
