Elizabeth Rose, Tenterden, Kent

Chosen by Monika Bartscht, director of womenswear agency Partners in Fashion

Elizabeth Rose sells a good mix of brands including Frank Walder, Gerry Weber and Basler, providing classic and contemporary styles.

The smart casual section downstairs is particularly good. The store is organised by colour, which makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. The building itself is a fantastic old structure with exposed beams that have been made into a real feature. Spotlights illuminate the large space and it has a very clean interior, which makes for easy navigation.

The customer care is outstanding. Changing cubicles are spacious and robes are provided, should the customer wish to step out. You can shop for a single outfit or a whole wardrobe because the variety is so vast. The staff are impressively knowledgeable about the stock and help customers put together outfits.

The store has also branched out onto the web and developed a good mail-order service. I admire its ability to recognise the changing needs of its customer and adapt in difficult economic times.
