Gill returns with men’s footwear brand

Stephen Gill, the former head of footwear at Ben Sherman, has launched a men’s footwear brand for spring 12.

Gill, who most recently set up footwear consultancy Footwear Partnerships, has collaborated with Taiwanese-born footwear factory owner Hiro Chen to produce the range, called ohW? (pronounced ‘who’. It also ‘Who?’ spelt backwards).

The brand is manufactured in Chen’s factory in Zhuhai, China. Each style is hand-signed by the factory worker doing the final quality check on each pair.

The collection includes shoes and boots, with moccasin, hiking, baseball and desert boot influences.Wholesale prices range from £38 to £50.

The ohW? brand will be distributed by agency Macandi, which also owns contemporary footwear brand Folk. Target stockists include indies such as The Three Threads in Shoreditch, east London, and multiples including Kurt Geiger.
