Goodstead in Edinburgh

Chosen by Anna Fenlon, marketing executive at young fashion etailer

Tucked away on Rose Street in Edinburgh sits Goodstead. Stocking a great mix of hard-to-find men’s labels, it also stocks a wide selection of women’s clothing and footwear brands, and that is why I adore this store.

Branded womenswear is difficult to find because choice is limited in the regions. You either pay over-the-top prices for a limited choice of product or simply look online. This is where Goodstead triumphs – it stocks a great range and gives a real flavour of the brands.

The brands Goodstead stocks  tend to follow an understated and practical aesthetic – from the classic French simplicity of APC to the cool of MHL by Margaret Howell.

It’s this mix of unfussiness and an eye for detail that makes Goodstead unique. My most wanted pieces are a beautiful pair of Folk brogues and a Sessun coat in black wool.

Fashion-forward labels such as Antipodium and Finsk are thrown into the mix, flying the flag for much-needed newness and diversity in regional womenswear retail.
