Heaven Woman in Watford, Hertfordshire

Chosen by Vernon Etridge, international sales manager for young fashion brand Uttam and Yumi.

Heaven Woman has such a great variety of labels with an innovative mix of staple best-sellers and cutting-edge names.

The store’s high street location means sourcing unusual styles is an important way for it to compete but it also makes sure that current high street trends are strongly represented. It’s a difficult balance but it does it well and has had strong footfall as a result. It also picks out brands that can compete with the multiples on price.

The interior design of the store has a very vintage feel to it, which adds to the shopping experience.

As with any indie, though, customer service is probably the most important thing to get right and Heaven Woman manages that brilliantly.

The owner, Krupa, and her team make customers feel at home and you really get the sense that they value your custom. When you walk in they come over and offer you a coffee and sometimes even champagne while you’re shopping.
