director of menswear and boyswear indie Modern Man in Strabane, Northern Ireland

How’s trade at the moment?

Trade is quite consistent and we’re slightly up on last year’s figures.

Are you running any promotions to drive trade?

We’re on the border of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland so we accept payment in euros and sterling. We’re running a promotion at the moment where the euro is worth the same as the pound in store, so that gives a 17% discount for customers spending with the euro.

Which brands are selling best?

At present Two Stoned, Voi and Henleys are doing particularly well. Because it’s the start of the wedding season, we’re seeing suits and shirts doing well.

Will you buy any new brands for spring 11? We are looking at a couple of new brands but we’re actually thinking of dropping some brands to focus more on our best-selling ranges.

Are you making any changes to the business this year?

We recently launched a website.

It isn’t transactional yet though. It’s got to be cost effective.
