Kent indie The Find wins Portas tuition

Drapers is to track the progress of Kent womenswear indie The Find over the next year, as the business puts into practice advice from retail guru Mary Portas.

The family business was awarded the Portas overhaul at the Drapers Fashion Summit this week, along with a scholarship to workshops fronted by Portas and run by sector skills council Skillsmart Retail.

The Find, which stocks womenswear brands Sandwich and Desigual, has two stores, but its once-successful Cranbrook store is being used to subsidise its newer, loss-making Sevenoaks shop.

Portas advised owner Wendy Leat to close the Sevenoaks store and expand online instead.
