Laura Hoggarth

Co-owner of young fashion indie Kit & Kaboodal, which has three stores in Yorkshire. Brands include Fullcircle, Lipsy, Rebekah Murphy, Traffic People, Vila.

How’s trade at the moment?

It’s actually quite good. We’ve got really good autumn/winter stock in. The colder weather earlier this year helped to sell the autumn stock.

What brands do you stock?

Amy G does well, and Highbury with its dresses. Also independent labels Lisa Jayne Dann, Kelly E Wing and Rebecca Murphy; people like the idea that it’s a local designer.

What do you think of autumn 11?

Fullcircle and Firetrap for autumn are strong for us. Even though they’re higher priced, people like the quality and can wear them next season as well as this.

Will you have new brands coming in for spring 12?

We’ve got Motel and we’re looking at Maggie + Me and Jonny Q.

What’s in the pipeline for your store?

We’re trying to develop the website, and maybe add a blog.

As part of a mother–daughter team, is your market quite diverse?

Absolutely, girls of 16 come in with their mums and shop at the same time. Young mums are our main customers.
