Development boom fuels rent rises

While Dalston has been experiencing a development boom with the reopening of Dalston Junction station in April last year, commercial rentals are still low enough to attract independent retailers, according to Richard Grove, sales and lettings negotiator at local estate agent Courtneys.

Rentals range from £16,000 per annum for about 900 sq ft to £60,000 per annum for roughly 1,500 sq ft on Kingsland Road, Dalston.

“The market has been steadily growing over the last few years, but with the Olympics next year and further development, we predict it will rise even more,” Grove said.
