Maidens in Chorley, Lancashire

Chosen by Donna Hill, marketing manager at footwear supplier Jacobson Group

Nestled among a parade of shops on Chapel Street, Maidens is a welcome haven among all the multiples in Chorley. The store is celebrating its 10th anniversary under present owner Nigel Clare, but its roots date back to the 1940s, when my grandma used to shop there. It’s an established landmark for the local female population.

To keep the brand mix interesting, perennial labels such as Armani Jeans and Ted Baker are each season mixed with new names specifically identified for their individuality.

Browsing is a pleasure as the store is well merchandised, and the staff are helpful and always on hand to suggest a creative alternative that you wouldn’t normally consider.

The ambience is relaxed and welcoming, with calming decor that allows the product to reach out to consumers. From fashion basics to something for a special occasion, I can always get kitted out at Maidens.

The store is launching a transactional website this autumn, which I know will allow it to reach a much broader market.
