Marc James looks to up stockist count

Occasionwear brand Marc James has appointed six sales agents for autumn 12 as it aims to capitalise on the absence from the market of the Frank Usher, Michel Ambers, Coterie and Dusk labels.

The brand’s designer Mark Baker, who worked for Michel Ambers until it went into administration in March, launched Marc James for spring 12 and has already picked up about 70 stockists including occasionwear indie Evita in Kildare, Republic of Ireland.

Agents WE Russell, Graeme Ross, Preview, Nick Bartlem, Jenny Reddoch and Des Lane have been appointed to find more stockists for autumn 12.

“It was a soft launch for spring 12,” said Baker. “For autumn 12 it would be great if each agent was able to pick up about 20 new stockists.”

Wholesale prices for Marc James  range from £130 to £190.

Frank Usher, Michel Ambers, Coterie and Dusk were owned by CDU before it fell into administration. They have since been bought by Roman Originals but failed to relaunch for spring 12.
