Matches appoints chief operating officer

Luxury indie mini-chain Matches has appointed Ulric Jerome as chief operating officer, to assist the retailer on its next stage growth.

Jerome starts with immediate effect and has joined the company board of directors.

He was previously a founding partner and executive director of general etailer, which operates in 26 countries.

Matches joint chief executive Tom Chapman said: “Ruth and I are delighted that Ulric has joined Matches to partner with us during this key stage of growth for the business. He has an exceptional wealth of experience in driving growth across omni-channel businesses and shares our strategic vision as we continue to develop Matches as a unique luxury fashion destination that services the global market.”

Jerome added: “I look forward to working with the company’s dedicated staff to position Matches on a global scale with a structure that will enable us to deliver the ultimate user experience for our customers while valuing our luxury partner brands across our distribution channels.”

The indie received £20m of investment last year, which will be used to help the luxury business further expand its rapidly growing online sales, with a particular focus on key international markets.
