How is business?

Trade is still tough for everyone. I have good days and difficult days but overall I’m very optimistic about the future.

Which brands are selling well?

Rocket Dog, Sugar Shoes and Padders are popular because they have interesting styling at a great price. United Nude is also doing well because it’s off-the-wall fashion.

Which footwear style is selling best? A biker Wellington boot because it’s weatherproof but looks cool. Ballerina pumps are doing well too - I’ve some stunning styles that look like they could be straight off the catwalk but only cost £55.

How important is the web to your business?

I’m doing some research into launching a website. Everyone tells me I should but I’ve had a lot of success advertising in local magazines.

Are indies being squeezed out by more high street non-specialists selling footwear?

I’ve been in the trade a long time and know there is room for indies. You can build up a lot of loyalty and goodwill in your area.
