Morleys Stores appoints new managing director

London department store group Morleys Stores has appointed David Hordle as managing director, replacing David James, who will leave the business at the end of May after almost 10 years at the helm.

Hordle joins from Alliance Boots, where he has spent four years. His roles have included acting divisional director and regional manager, and he was lastlyhead of region. Before Boots, he was commercial director at London-based speciality food stores Planet Organic and head of programme at Marks & Spencer.

Morleys Stores Group, which is owned by Bernard Dreesmann, has seven department stores in Greater London, including Morleys in Brixton, Elys of Wimbledon and Bodgers in Ilford.
