Designer indie Start London is to create a female counterpart to its Mr Start menswear collection.
Speaking at womenswear show Pure London, the store’s co-founder Brix Smith-Start revealed that following the success of the menswear range, the Shoreditch boutique was in the “embryonic stages” of launching a Mr Start womenswear offer.
It is understood the collection will centre on the ‘perfect white shirt’, mimicking the way in which Mr Start’s menswear line has been built around tailoring. Smith-Start said the range would later look to expand into further categories but kept details under wraps.
The new collection is the brainchild of Start London co-founder Philip Start, and the husband-and-wife team will consult on the new womenswear line, overseeing the strategy for the range, which will be developed by a chief designer.
Mr Start launched in 2008 and is said to be selling well in high-end retailers including Harvey Nichols and Harrods. It comprises minimal, slim-block tailoring and elegant separates such as short-length jackets, double-breasted blazers, polo shirts and crisp shirting.
