Nicola Scott is owner of contemporary womenswear indie Bunty & Co in Pocklington, York Brands include People’s Market, Yumi, Nümph and Ugg Australia
How is trade?
Slow. It’s recession-based and because we are in-between seasons. It did start to pick up a bit this week. Our own range is very busy, but the shop has been quiet.
What brands are selling well?
Maison Scotch, Nümph, Ichi, Darling and our label, Bunty & Co.
How would you describe your own label?
It’s casualwear such as T-shirts, hoodies and dresses. We have 30 stockists and recently it’s taken off, with celebrities such as the TOWIE girls, Kelly Brook and Una Healy from The Saturdays wearing our stuff.
What do you think of autumn 11?
I’m really liking it, in particular the knitwear and the colours.
Will you stock new brands for spring 12?
No. I’ve cut back to save the pennies because of the economic climate.
Any events in the pipeline?
We and three other shops are hosting a fashion show, which will showcase our new collections while raising money for local schools.
