One Vintage and D&Me, Brompton Road, west London

Chosen by Donna Ida Thornton, founder of three-store denim indie Donna Ida

Diane Metta and Marcelle Metta-Symons are two sisters who merged their stores into a two-floor boutique on Brompton Road, west London. One Vintage occupies a studio-like space above D&Me’s store.

The sisters stock what they want to wear themselves, which makes shopping there like picking through their personal wardrobes. Own labels Mamie and Dicha can be found on the ground floor alongside Foley & Corinna, IRO, Goat and Helmut Lang. The buying is exceptional, with unique pieces that I know I have to grab right there and then or be prepared to lose forever. There is a nice mix of brands from New York and Paris and the bags and accessories are excellent.

The stock moves around constantly and the windows are eye-catching. The service is great - the manager always remembers me and the store does special evenings for One Vintage upstairs. If you want to shop after hours, they’ll open up without question.
