Phil Goodfellow

co-owner of premium menswear indie Northern Threads in South Shields, Tyne & Wear

Brands include Armani Jeans, Baracuta, Humör, Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker

How are plans shaping up for your second store?

We’ll launch on September 10 on Fowler Street [South Shields] in a 16,000 sq ft site and have made a decision on the name - it will be called Edit.

Which brands will Edit stock?

Denim brands including Replay, Diesel, Carhartt, Superdry, Henleys and One True Saxon. We are keeping it separate to the main store, where we’ve kept brands such as Ralph Lauren and Edwin.

Which new brands is Northern Threads taking on for spring 11?

Evisu, Libertine-Libertine and YMC. We are going to keep Northern Threads quite premium now we have a decent space for the denim in Edit.

Will you update the website once Edit launches?

Yes, we are going to have a split screen on the home page with the Northern Threads product on one side and Edit’s on the other. It will have the Northern Threads URL and banner but it will be a dual-store site, like [Middlesbrough indie] Triads does, where it has pages for each store.
