Tailoring UK sizes up London store

Leicestershire-based Tailoring UK is to open its first London store on South Kensington’s Harrington Road as part of its expansion into the capital.

The 500 sq ft shop, which is expected to open by December 1, follows the creation of a new office and workshop in London. It has already attracted 22 contracts from both corporate and private clients over the summer.

To date, the bespoke men’s and women’s tailor has made suits and carried out alterations for customers in the business world, but it is now holding talks with high-end retailers and department stores about offering integrated services to shoppers.

Tailoring UK owner and creative director Ketan Jethwa said: “We are looking to broaden our customer base in London off the back of the successful contracts we have already had.

“We have had very encouraging feedback from clients, who appreciate a level of personal service rarely experienced these days, such as visiting their home for a consultation.”

Tailoring UK, which has showrooms in Leicester, Cambridge, Nottingham and Derby, designs and manufactures its bespoke suits at its Midlands factory, which employs eight tailors plus six assistants, as well as several freelancers.
