The Bureau in Belfast

Chosen by Richard Mazzega-Ward, UK country manager of young fashion and accessories brand Eastpak

I visited The Bureau in 2009 and met Michael Hamilton, who is one of the founders.

The store looks low key from the outside but is very fresh and directional inside, something I’ve not seen from a menswear indie for some time.

The Bureau has a classic British heritage look. It reminds me of a restored old tobacconist shop, crossed with a Savile Row-style tailoring store, with influences from the Titanic. There are lots of dark wood fixtures, old images on the walls and interesting artefacts.

The Bureau has a concentrated brand mix, offering products that are not readily available elsewhere. Tricker’s and Yuketen are just two of the bespoke engineered footwear products that it sells, and if you’re looking for selvedge denim brands then The Bureau has it all, with the likes of The Garbstore and Levi’s Vintage Clothing always doing well. I could spend some serious cash in there.
