Swiss brand Victorinox has appointed Simon Walker as country sales manager for the UK as it seeks to grow its stockist base in the territory.
Veteran brand manager Walker, who has previously held roles at sportswear brand Peak Performance and menswear brand J Lindeberg, joins Victorinox following its repositioning as a lifestyle brand. Walker will be charged with growing the brand’s UK stockists. It currently has 25 stockists for its menswear collection, whilst womenswear is only stocked in Victorinox’s London store on New Bond Street.
Joachim Beer, global president of fashion and retail, led the relaunch of the range, which now has six collections per year.
Beer, who is based in the company’s New York office, said: “[Autumn] 11 was the first under our new design team and we got very positive feedback. We sold 51.1% more – and the base wasn’t small. So collection-wise, we know we’re correct.”
Victorinox is also developing its retail business with a global rollout of flagship stores, including the recent opening of a 4,500sq ft store in Dusseldorf. New openings are planned for China, Asia, America and Europe over the next three years.
