WearDowney in Connaught Village, west London Chosen by actress Siobhan Hewlett.

WearDowney opened only three months ago but it already plays a key role in the local retail community. I’m a frequent customer of the store and regularly visit the website for its unique product offer that keeps me going back.

Connaught Village is the perfect location for the ultra-fashionable boutique. It’s a short walk from Oxford Street but is off the beaten track and has tons of character. WearDowney combines a hand-picked selection of labels with the store’s own-label knitwear.

The shop never fails to inspire me with its individuality and its one-of-a-kind knits. They use soft merino wools, chenille fine cottons and it is all hand-dyed on site. An exciting range of up-and-coming labels complement the knitwear.

Founders Amy Wear and Gail Downey are always trying to offer something a bit different. They run knitting classes for novices, and last time I popped into the boutique they had an immaculate collection of Vogue magazines dating from 1946 to 1967 on display.
