Year-round sourcing site targets indies

An online brand directory that helps indies to source product throughout the year will launch next month., which will be free for retailers, is the brainchild of former Pure London event director Samantha Bleasby and Louisa Valvano, ex-global marketing director at trend forecast website WGSN. It will bring together womenswear, menswear, accessories and footwear from forward and short-order labels. The site, which has signed up womenswear labels Yumi and Nümph, is not transactional.

Bleasby said: “Retailers are buying all year round, so this allows them to source product throughout the year.”

Deryane Tadd, owner of womenswear indie The Dressing Room in St Albans, welcomed the service but added: “It would be good if they opened it up to smaller, niche brands too, otherwise it’s just a platform for the bigger brands.”

Daniel Morris, managing director of Boxfresh, said: “With some buyers cutting travel budgets, it could act as a virtual exhibition.”

Brands will pay a minimum annual fee of £1,500 to use the site.
